A warmer-than-usual winter, fewer crowds and offbeat destinations make this the right time to explore the quieter side of Himachal’s hill towns

1. Kareri Lake


This high lake often freezes in winter with snow all around. The trek is quiet and offers real peace.

Reach it by taxi to Kareri Village from Dharamshala (₹800-1000 one way for 4-6 people), then a 13 km moderate trek (5-7 hours). Take a guide if there is snow (₹1000-1500/day).

You can trek, camp, and visit the nearby Shiva temple.

2. Naddi View Point


A calm spot with clear views of snow-covered peaks. It is ideal for sunrise or sunset.

7. Indrahar Pass Trail (Lower Parts)

10. Kangra Valley Toy Train Ride
The narrow-gauge train passes through tea gardens and hills. Winter views are stunning.
