Kangra: The HPPSC Result 2026 has brought a proud moment for Kangra district. Shreya Walia from Nagrota Bagwan secured the first rank in the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) Medical Officer (General Wing) Group-A recruitment examination.
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission recommended 162 candidates against 232 advertised posts in the Health and Family Welfare Department. As a result, Shreya emerged as the overall state topper and became one of the biggest highlights of this year’s recruitment.
Kangra daughter secures first rank
Residents of Nagrota Bagwan welcomed the news with joy and congratulated Shreya on her remarkable success. Moreover, her achievement has brought recognition to Kangra district and inspired students preparing for medical and government examinations.
Girls shine in merit list
Women dominated the top positions in the final merit list. Shreya Walia secured the first rank, while Shreya Chandel finished second and Shagun Sharma claimed the third position. Therefore, the top three ranks went to women candidates, reflecting their strong performance in the competitive recruitment process.
162 candidates secure selection for medical officer posts
The HPPSC Result 2026 recommends 162 candidates for appointment against 232 Medical Officer (General Wing) vacancies.
The selected candidates include:
- 49 from the General category
- 14 from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category
- 7 from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category
- 20 from the Other Backward Class (OBC) category
- 12 from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
- 59 from the Ward of Ex-Servicemen category
Recruitment through multi-stage selection process
The commission issued the recruitment notification on November 15, 2025. It conducted the Screening Test and Subject Aptitude Test (SAT) on February 22, 2026. Later, 299 candidates qualified for the Personality Test, which took place from June 1 to June 11, 2026. Finally, the commission prepared the merit list based on candidates’ overall performance.
70 vacancies remain vacant
Although HPPSC advertised 232 Medical Officer posts, it recommended candidates for only 162 vacancies. The commission could not fill the remaining 70 posts because eligible candidates were unavailable in certain reserved categories. Meanwhile, it filled 42 Ward of Ex-Servicemen vacancies from their respective residual categories as per government guidelines.
