MSP for crops: In a step to promote natural farming, the Himachal Pradesh government has announced Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for key crops grown through this method. The announcement was shared via the official Twitter handle of the Information & Public Relations Department, with the government reiterating its aim to make Himachal a leading state in natural farming.
As per the budget provisions, the MSP has been fixed at ₹90 per kg for turmeric, ₹60 per kg for wheat, and ₹40 per kg for maize, specifically for produce grown using natural farming practices. This policy aims to provide farmers with assured income while reducing dependence on chemical-based agriculture.
The government says the initiative will not only ensure minimum guaranteed prices for farmers but also give a new identity to their produce. The focus is on promoting organic products, strengthening the rural economy, and creating value through processing hubs like the spice park in Hamirpur.

Natural farming, often termed more sustainable and eco-friendlier, is considered as beneficial for soil health, human health, and the environment at large.
It also carried a message from Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stating: “In the coming days, with everyone’s support and the hard work of farmers, Himachal will set a new benchmark in the field of natural farming.”
With this, Himachal Pradesh appears to be setting the tone for a broader transformation in agriculture, that is rooted in sustainability, rural empowerment, and long-term environmental health.
