Shimla Police seize vehicle carrying illegal liquor, 30 cartons recovered

Shimla Police have seized a Bolero Camper vehicle carrying a large quantity of illegal liquor and beer in the Deha area of Chopal subdivision. The police recovered 30 cartons from the vehicle, including English liquor, country liquor and beer.

Police said the Deha police team was on patrol on May 8, 2026, when they received information that illegal liquor was being transported in a vehicle. After getting the tip-off, the police set up a checkpoint near Bagal Nala and stopped the Bolero Camper.

The driver identified himself as Sohan Singh, a resident of Shimla. During the search, police found 13 cartons of English liquor, 6 cartons of country liquor and 11 cartons of beer. All the cartons had “For Sale in Himachal Pradesh Only” written on them, and each carton contained 12 bottles.

Police also found that the driver did not have any valid permit or licence to transport the liquor. A case has been registered against him under the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act, and further investigation is underway.
